Google Selects 15 African AI Startups for Latest Accelerator Cohort

Google for Startups Accelerator Africa has announced its latest cohort of 15 African tech startups leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to solve some of the continent’s most pressing challenges in sectors like fintech, agritech, healthtech, and logistics.

Now in its ninth edition, the Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa program is a three-month hybrid initiative designed to help early-stage African startups, from seed to Series A, scale their AI-powered solutions. Since its launch in 2018, the program has supported over 140 startups across 17 African countries, advancing the growth of the continent’s AI and digital innovation ecosystem.

The selected startups span a range of industries and regions, with solutions ranging from AI-driven financial compliance, smart agriculture platforms, and logistics SaaS, to digital healthcare and blockchain-powered trade networks.

  • E-doc Online (Nigeria): AI-powered compliance and credit checks for smarter lending decisions.
  • GoNomad (Nigeria): Helps entrepreneurs and businesses manage global payments and professional invoicing.
  • Middleman (Nigeria): Simplifies importing and payment for African businesses sourcing goods from China.
  • Myltura (Nigeria): A digital health platform enhancing remote care and diagnostics across Africa.
  • Pastel (Nigeria): AI-powered fraud detection and anti-money laundering solutions for financial institutions.
  • Rapid Human AI (South Africa): Accelerates product development with AI-assisted design-thinking tools.
  • Regulon (Ghana): Simplifies business compliance and onboarding using AI-powered regulatory tools.
  • Scandium (Nigeria): An AI-based quality assurance suite for faster, error-free software releases.
  • Shamba Records (Kenya): Supports over 50,000 African farmers with smart credit, market access, and climate-resilient farming solutions.

The selection follows a competitive process that attracted nearly 1,500 applications from across Africa. According to Folarin Aiyegbusi, Google’s Head of Startup Ecosystem for Africa, the initiative reflects Google’s commitment to nurturing inclusive AI innovation driven by African entrepreneurs.

“African startups are leading transformative change across sectors, and their AI-driven solutions are truly inspiring,” Aiyegbusi said. “This accelerator is about equipping these startups with the right tools, mentorship, and network to scale their impact.”
